Like many friends my age, I’m looking for ways to latch onto memories while my parent is still here. There in an old, forgotten boxes of greeting cards was a narrative I hadn’t pieced together before.  This piece was published on Valentine’s Day 2014, and I followed it with a PBS Next Avenue essay on how Mother’s Day traditions have changed, which I published on Mother’s Day 2014.
