Stonewall 50: Still Making Our Place

My essay Stonewall at 50: Still Making Our Place was published on June 28, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the start of the Stonewall Riots. I like thinking of it that way since the uprising and movement that started that day hasn’t stopped since. I explore LGBT progress and where we’re headed.

I took this photo of The Stonewall Inn which accompanies the essay four years ago when I was in NYC and the Supreme Court had just made marriage equality a right nationwide. I love the blazing red color of it, symbolic of the passion and heart this movement has and will continue to have.
