Dave Singleton has a multi-faceted career in publishing, working as a executive and writer for the past twenty years, in New York City and Washington, D.C.
He is the Director of Planning and Promotion for AARP Publications, home of AARP the Magazine, the largest circulation magazine in the world, AARP Bulletin Today, the go-to daily news source for 50+, Segunda Juventud, the only bilingual magazine for Hispanics 50+, online publications, AARP books, and broadcast media tie-ins.
In addition to his work with AARP Publications, Dave Singleton is a writer on topics including dating and relationships, pop culture, and LGBT issues. He is the author of two books: The Mandates: 25 Real Rules for Successful Gay Dating (Crown, 2004) and Behind Every Great Woman There's a Fabulous Gay Man: Advice from a Guy Who Gives It to You Straight (Penguin Perigee, 2005), which includes three foreign editions. For both books, he interviewed hundreds of men and women to bring their colorful stories to life. Since 2003, he's been a regular columnist on dating and relationships for MSN.com and Match.com, the #1 relationship website in the country. At the 2008 AARP member Event and Expo, which drew 27,000 members to Washington, D.C., his session, "Love at First Click" focused on dating online and relationships at midlife, current online dating trends for the 50+ audience, and real-life success stories.

His focus on LGBT issues has included dating, relationships, social connections, news analysis, and lifestyle, initially for Gen X and Gen Y, but now increasingly for gay baby boomers and beyond. Most recently, he wrote and produced an exclusive multimedia report on the Stonewall Riots' 40th Anniversary for AARP. His coverage included writing several articles, including a 1st person essay entitled Seven Years Old in 1969, conducting numerous radio interviews, hosting a video interview with Martina Navratilova, and acting as executive producer for a short 9-minute film, Stonewall: Milestone Remembered.
He has appeared on television and radio programs such as NBC News, NPR, and the BBC, and been featured in numerous print and online media such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, National Journal, The Chicago Tribune, Arizona Republic, The UK Sun, AOL, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Elle, Tango, Metro Weekly, Instinct, and OUT.
As a pop-culture researcher with a focus on generational trends, he co-authored a white paper titled The Quarterlife Crisis: The N-Gen Transition to Adulthood, with author/researcher Abby Wilner Miller, and contributed to her book The Quarterlifer's Companion: How To Get On The Right Career Path, Control Your Finances, And Find The Support Network You Need To Thrive.
Mr. Singleton has also worked for publishing companies including Hearst Magazines, Scholastic, Time Warner, and BNA.
He holds a Master's in Business Administration from New York Universitys Stern School of Business, with extensive additional coursework with the NYU Graduate School of Journalism, as part of a joint MBA Marketing/MA Journalism program. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The University of Virginia.
